The origins of the Teglio Veneto Palio lie in the Environment Festival that was organized for the first time by the Pro Loco Tegliese local development association in 1986. Over the years the event has grown and become more and more vibrant thanks to the “contradas” (districts) of Teglio Veneto. They promoted community spirit and healthy competition in the town with their “Gara dei mussi” (donkey race), which was held until 2014. Today, the Teglio Veneto Palio fills the whole town centre with stalls and entertainment of all kinds, including cultural and musical initiatives.

The highlight is the costume parade on Sunday afternoon, when people walk through the streets in reproductions of 20^th century peasant outfits.

PROGRAMME:

Guided tour of Portogruaro old town centre, followed by a transfer to Teglio Veneto for lunch in a traditional local inn. In the afternoon, we will join the audience for the historical costume parade.
