The Fair of Sant’Andrea is the biggest and most famous event of its kind in the Portogruaro area. Also known as the “Old Goose and Boot Fair”, it is promoted by Portogruaro Town Council in partnership with Eastern Veneto Confartigianato, Portogruaro Pro Loco local development association and a number of business and trade associations. The whole town gets involved in the fair, which features a blend of traditional food and wine, displays of local craftsmanship, entertainment for youngsters and shows in the evenings for adults. The main attraction is the big fair, which fills the town centre with hundreds of market stalls and stands of all kinds.

As its alternative name suggests, the Fair of Sant’Andrea was once a place where peasants and the authorities could trade goods such as geese and boots. The tradition is kept alive today by restaurants that serve traditional goose dishes to tourists, along with outstanding Lison-Pramaggiore DOC wines.
