About Cinto Caomaggiore
Cinto Caomaggiore is one of the smallest and most enchanting towns in the Province of Venice. With a population of approximately 3,300, it spans 21 km² and is surrounded by fragrant flowers and the green vineyards used to make prestigious DOC wines. It stands out from the larger towns in the Portogruaro area thanks to its healthy, clean air and large, open spaces that are perfect for pleasant, relaxing strolls. Cinto is also renowned for its fondness for festivities and great community spirit. The main events in the town include the “Festival of Saint Peter and Saint Paul”, which takes place in the last week of June, and the traditional “John the Baptist” festival in the Settimo area of Cinto, which is also held in June. A prominent part in the landscape around the town is played by the Caomaggiore and Reghena Rivers (the former of which is actually a tributary of the latter) and numerous canals, including the Melon, Suiedo, Lison, Trator and San Piero. A branch of the Tagliamento River flows underground and acts as a source for the many resurgences in the municipal area, as well as the Cinto Lakes. One of the many fine works of architecture that should not be missed is the parish church, which contains some prized pieces of art. They include an altarpiece showing the Crucifixion by Gregorio Lazzaroni and a font by Giovanni Pilacorte. The church of San Giovanni Battista in the Settimo area is another interesting historical building.
