“Terre dei Dogi in Festa” (the “Land of the Doges” celebration) is a food and wine event in Eastern Veneto that takes place on the first weekend in May in Portogruaro old town centre. A starring role goes to Lison-Pramaggiore wines, which are accompanied by the cuisine, traditions and culture of Portogruaro. The idea behind the “Land of the Doges” is to blend the Venetian influences on the town of Portogruaro with the traditional food and wine of the surrounding countryside.

Highlights of the event include tasting fine wines along the main street in town, trips on the Lemene River in traditional “caorlina” boats, concerts and entertainment for youngsters. It reaches a climax with a re-enactment of a doge’s parade in Piazza della Repubblica. The initiative is organized in partnership with the Lison-Pramaggiore DOC Wine Association, the Lison-Pramaggiore DOC Wine Route, the Venice Wine Forum, and a number of business and trade associations.

PROGRAMME:

Guided tour of Portogruaro and the Town Museum. Lunch in a traditional osteria. There will be food and wine stands and wine tastings in the streets of the town centre throughout the day.
