For over 50 years, Ceggia has been home to the biggest, best known and most renowned Carnival in Eastern Veneto. Every year, thousands of visitors fill the streets of the town and enjoy the light-hearted cheer as they all celebrate Carnival together. Ceggia Carnival is a well-established event with a varied programme to suit all tastes that is run by numerous volunteers. Over 500 people spend six months a year working on everything from the construction of the themed floats to the street decorations, as they strive to make it perfect in every way. Since 1964 it has been known as the Youth Carnival because the majority of the float making is done by the young people of the town. Every new generation develops a passion for the big allegorical event and spends countless hours toiling over their floats. After months of hard work, they are finally ready for the big parades along the streets, which now also take place at night.

A final firework display brings the curtain down on the Carnival and leaves everyone eagerly awaiting the following year’s event.

PROGRAMME:

We will watch the afternoon float parades, then have free time to wander among the stalls and the people in costume. This will be followed by a masked dinner with traditional local carnival fare.
